Infant care manufacturer Comotomo uses Avient color-matched Ultrason® in next-generation baby bottle
 

Comotomo, a leading Korean manufacturer of innovative infant care products, now uses colored Ultrason® P 2010 in its next-generation baby bottle to achieve the desired color without compromising safety. The bottle’s silicone body incorporates an over-molded ring made of the BASF polyphenylsulfone Ultrason® P 2010 (PPSU) as a high-quality base polymer combined with a specific blue color using Avient’s Colorant Chromatics high-temperature color formulation expertise for color concentrates and pre-colored solutions. This combination provides the bottle with full rigidity and ensures a safe feeding experience for infants as the colored PPSU is approved for food contact according to all important standards like FDA, FC and GB.

Colorful and robust: Ultramid® Advanced for durable, safe PCB connectors and terminals

The electrical engineering company Weidmüller, Germany uses Ultramid® Advanced N3U41 G6 for the PCB connectors and terminals of its new OMNIMATE® 4.0 product family. The BASF polyphthalamide (PPA) is characterized by its flexible colorability in RAL colors such as color stable orange, blue, and green, thus contributing to the safe assembly and maintenance of E&E components. Thanks to its outstanding chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and very good processability, Ultramid® Advanced N improves the robustness and durability of OMNIMATE® 4.0 components.

BASF patents new hot gas welding process for plastics

BASF has patented a novel hot gas welding process for plastics. The technology enables thermoplastic components – especially those made of Ultramid® Advanced (polyphthalamide PPA) – to be welded significantly faster, more energy-efficiently and in a more material-friendly manner than with conventional hot gas welding processes.

BASF strategically develops its Ultradur® portfolio for drinking water and food contact applications

BASF Engineering Plastics is positioning its Ultradur® portfolio for drinking water and food-contact applications with a clear focus on the future. As a first step, BASF will offer two clearly differentiated product lines for glass-fiber-reinforced materials: proven Aqua grades for drinking water applications and dedicated FC (Food Contact) grades for use in food-contact applications.
BASF Engineering Plastics meet the European railway standard EN 45545 and are certified for safety critical E&E applications in the rail industry. The tested Ultramid® and Ultradur® grades help minimize fire risks and limit the spread of flames, smoke, and toxic gases. Flame retardant systems without halogen as a base and color independent certification provide additional safety and design freedom.
