The American coffee brand Bruvi^® now uses Ultrason^® E 2010 to manufacture the extractor lens in its coffee brewers. The complex injection-molded component is part of Bruvi’s unique auto-optimized brewing technique, scanning the coffee pod and then automatically adjusting the brewing parameters to the specific recipe for the optimal brew of each individual coffee. The BASF polyethersulfone (PESU) contributes to the durability of the machine by its excellent mechanical strength, its high heat and steam resistance up to 180°C, as well as dimensional stability at varying temperatures. The food-contact approved thermoplastic meets Bruvi’s standards for ensuring tastier coffee and hygienic brewing: It does not affect the taste of the coffee or gives off any odors. This allows Ultrason^® E 2010 to outperform other materials which are used in coffee machine applications.

For sustainable food packaging, the extrusion coating specialist Metpack, Istanbul, now offers coated paper and paperboard which is certified home-compostable OK Compost Home from TÜV Austria. Metpack’s paper Ezycompost benefits from a coating with BASF’s ecovio® 70 PS14H6. The biopolymer is certified home-compostable (OK Compost Home) and adds several functional advantages to paper for food packaging: It is food-contact approved (FDA) and shows excellent barrier properties against liquids, fats, grease, and mineral oil as well as temperature stability at boiling water (up to 100°C). This combination of proven compostability and excellent performance gives paper packaging manufacturers and food brands the certainty that food packaging articles made of Ezycompost can be safely used by consumers and create no persistent mircoplastics in home compost after usage.

Shanghai, China – April 14, 2025 – Cellasto^®, the world leader in Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) components, is investing roughly €60 million to establish a second plant in Shanghai, China. This production expansion aims to capitalize on China’s booming electric vehicle market. The new facility will feature advanced mold lines, resulting in a capacity increase of nearly 70%, with operations expected to start in 2027. A commencement ceremony was held on April 14^th to celebrate this expansion.

Lemfoerde, Germany – April 2, 2025 – At CHINAPLAS 2025, BASF will present the Pro-Flex^® Terra foot prosthesis, co-created with the leading global prosthetic provider, Össur. Cellasto^®’s cutting-edge material solution, characterized by progressive stiffness and high impact strength, combines softness and flexibility with extraordinary energy return, allowing the Pro-Flex^® Terra foot prosthesis to embody an intuitive response behavior and replicate closely the human muscle-tendon motion.

For challenging E&E components, BASF has now developed the high-flow Ultrason® D 1010 G6 U40. The blend based on polyethersulfone (PESU) is optimized to meet special needs for easy injection molding of energy-efficient parts in data and energy transmission, smart electronics and e-mobility. Because of its excellent flowability at lower processing temperatures the new BASF thermoplastic gives manufacturers greater flexibility when designing sophisticated switches, circuit breakers and sensors as well as IGBTs and semi-conductor parts like burn-in test sockets. Ultrason® D 1010 G6 U40 shows stable electrical properties at elevated temperatures with a high relative thermal index (RTI) and a higher comparative tracking index (CTI) than polyetherimide (PEI) and polyphenylenesulfide (PPS).
