BASF has introduced biomass balance (BMB) grades of its Autofroth^® polyurethane systems for the low pressure polyurethane foam market. These mass-balanced products are REDcert2 certified, along with many BASF sites, including the recently certified Clemson, South Carolina site.
 

BASF is expanding its Basotect^® portfolio with Basotect^® Dark EcoBalanced, the first dark version of its established melamine resin foam. The industry-first combines the excellent acoustic and safety properties of Basotect^® B EcoBalanced with a homogeneous dark color - enabling elegant and visually striking acoustic concepts that complement contemporary color trends. 

A new research study by ETH Zurich, in collaboration with BASF SE, has investigated an alternative route for mixed plastic waste streams from end-of-life vehicles: to recycle it alongside biomass. The results show: the recycling of one kg of automotive shredder residues with 3 kg of biomass reduces greenhouse gas emissions by more than 3 kg CO₂-eq. as compared to their incineration for energy recovery. 

BASF develops two recycling routes for PA6 from end-of-life vehicles: depolymerization and solvent‑based recycling. Pilot projects with ZF and Pöppelmann show near‑series use, processing components for Mercedes‑Benz. 

Porsche AG and BASF SE, in collaboration with technology partner BEST - Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies GmbH, have successfully completed a pilot project on recycling mixed waste from end-of-life vehicles. The pilot project demonstrates the recyclability of high-performance plastics from automotive shredder residues (ASR) together with renewable raw materials.
