From scrap tires to door handles: Replacing fossil resources in the production of prime quality plastics for automotive parts

How can the material cycle be closed by replacing fossil raw materials according to mass balance methods?

To produce a prime quality plastic resin for use in automotive parts at Mercedes-Benz, BASF for the first time combines pyrolysis oil from scrapped end-of-life tires and biomethane from agricultural waste in one mass balance approach.

Join the experts Daniel Braun (Mercedes-Benz), Eleni Kougioumtzi (Mercedes-Benz) and Oliver Geiger (BASF) on October 21 at the BASF booth and listen how they succeeded in  replacing fossil feedstock, such as naphtha and natural gas, by sustainable resources. The mass balance approach allows to have high-quality plastic with a content of secondary raw materials in selected Mercedes-Benz models.
