Elastollan® TPU is more than a material. It's a foundation for future-ready products.
Elastollan® TPU for Film
Elastollan® TPU sets a new standard in film manufacturing by combining transparency, flexibility, toughness, and abrasion resistance, a rare combination not easily achieved with traditional polymers like PVC, polyethylene, or EVA.
Key Benefits
-
Elastic Yet Strong: Elastollan® TPU films stretch and recover without tearing or deforming, even under repeated stress and impact.
-
Cold-Weather Flexibility: Maintains elasticity in low temperatures where other materials become brittle, ideal for outdoor and refrigerated environments.
-
Chemical & UV Resistance: Withstands oils, chemicals, and UV exposure, ensuring long-term durability in harsh industrial and environmental conditions.
-
Breathable + Waterproof: Offers a unique dual functionality, allowing moisture vapor to escape while blocking water ingress. Perfect for applications requiring both comfort and protection.
Our Film Application Range
Elastollan® TPU in Film Processing
Processes | Description |
T-die extrusion | Elastollan® TPU’s excellent dimensional stability and wide processing window enables consistent sheet thickness under thermal and mechanical stress down to 100um. Ideal for high-performance applications such as Paint Protection Film (PPF), where durability, clarity, and surface consistency are critical. |
Blow film extrusion |
Elastollan® TPU’s flexibility and strong adhesion properties make it perfect for blow film extrusion, allowing the production of durable, flexible films as thin as 25um for use in lamination on functional fabric, packaging, and protective coverings. |
Co-extrusion |
Elastollan® TPU's excellent melt processability, elasticity, and strong adhesion to various substrates make it particularly well-suited for co-extrusion, enabling the production of high-performance, multi-layered products such as packaging films and technical laminates. |
Calendering | Elastollan® TPU resin stands out as a top-performing material for calendaring due to its smooth melting behaviour, excellent flow characteristics, and thermal stability make TPU ideal for forming thin, uniform sheets through heated rollers, especially in applications like synthetic leather for automotive interiors. |
Elastollan® TPU for Non-Woven
TPU is redefining performance standards in non-woven materials. Unlike traditional polymers like polypropylene, polyester, or polyethylene, TPU offers a unique combination of softness, elasticity, and durability, making it a standout choice for advanced applications.
Key Benefits
- Superior Stretch & Recovery: TPU non-wovens conform easily to complex shapes and return to form without losing structural integrity—ideal for dynamic, high-performance environments.
- Exceptional Comfort & Protection: TPU delivers breathability while maintaining a reliable barrier against moisture and bacteria. This balance makes it perfect for products that need to be both comfortable and protective.
- Enhanced Durability: Naturally resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and environmental stress, TPU non-wovens offer longer product lifespans and greater functional versatility than conventional materials.
Our Non-Woven Application Range
Elastollan® TPU in Non-Woven Processing
Process | Description | |
Meltblown |
Elastollan® TPU resin’s superior melt strength and adhesive properties make it ideal for the melt-blown process, where resin is extruded and blown into a fine fibrous web. The result is a strong, cohesive non-woven structure with excellent mechanical durability and filtration performance – perfect for demanding applications like medical masks and protective barriers. |
|
Spunbond |
Spunbond process extrudes TPU resin into continuous filaments, which are laid on a conveyor and bonded using heat and pressure. Thanks to TPU’s high elasticity and excellent recovery, the resulting non-woven fabric offers outstanding tensile strength and durability, making it ideal for demanding applications like disposable hygiene products and protective layers. |
Elastollan® TPU Resin: A Sustainable Solution
As demand grows for safer, more sustainable materials, TPU is leading the way, offering a cleaner, high-performance alternative to traditional polymers like PVC, polystyrene, and fluoropolymers classified as PFAS in specific applications.
Whether used in hygiene products, outdoor gear, medical fabrics, or technical textiles, TPU offers a cleaner, more responsible choice without sacrificing functionality.
As part of our broader sustainability portfolio, we also offer mass-balanced products made from BioMass Balance, bio-based raw materials, and recyclable TPU options – further reinforcing our commitment to circularity and environmental responsibility.
Benefits
-
Safe and Sustainable by Design: Elastollan® TPU is formulated without harmful additives such as phthalates, halogenated flame retardants, and PFAS, complying with major regulations like REACH & RoHS. This makes it an ideal choice for a broad range of applications, due to its exceptional environmental footprint and human health protection.
-
Safe for Skin Contact: Selected Elastollan® TPUs passed biocompatibility tests. With their low-toxicological profile, these materials fulfil the requirements for direct skin-contact applications like diapers, wound dressings, and wearable textiles.
-
Recyclability: Unlike many conventional thermoset polymers, TPU as a thermoplastic material generally could be reprocessed and reused, which can contribute to waste reduction and supports the transformation towards circularity throughout product life cycle.
