Through the use of their Ultramid® products, BASF has supported RML Group in developing an innovative, efficient, immersion-cooled battery for high-performance hybrid vehicles. This sets a new benchmark in terms of performance and safety. Ultramid® B3EG7 is used for the stable battery housing and the battery unit itself. Keeping temperatures low at high speed - BASF Plastics support immersion cooling in high-speed hybrid car

BASF, the world's leading provider of materials solutions in the plastics sector, has supported RML Group in the development of an innovative, immersion-cooled battery for a high-performance hybrid hypercar that sets new performance and safety standards using next-generation plastic materials. The 800V battery features a capacity of 4.2 kWh and a discharge rate of >100C, weighing in at less than 75kg.

Accelerating the heartbeat of eMobility: BASF engineering plastics for durable and powerful electric motors

The electric motor is the heart of any electric vehicle, be it battery, fuel cell, hybrid, or plug-in. For the development of safe, efficient, durable and powerful e-motors, BASF offers a unique co-creation partnership to the automotive industry: an extensive portfolio of engineering plastics is the basis for design and engineering expertise, Ultrasim® simulation and parts testing through to the support of serial production of the final application. Backed by BASF’s deep understanding of e-motor challenges, customers can develop next generation e-motors while at the same time meeting production targets and market expectations for energy-efficiency, recyclability and low product carbon footprint (PCF). BASF’s broad material offering for e-motor applications can be experienced first-hand at the BASF booth at Chinaplas 2024, Shanghai where a demonstrator of an integrated e-motor and inverter will be exhibited.

Ultramid® (PA), an engineering plastic from BASF, is utilized in the housing of the portable charging system Mobility Dock by LAPP, a producer for mobile chargers for home and on the road. Ultramid® is highly mechanically resilient and UV-resistant, keeping the dock durable and colourfast even under sunlight. Free and independent: Portable charging for electric vehicles entirely in style

While the automotive industry continues to undergo its most significant powertrain transformation in its history, the electric battery vehicle boom presents the industry with major challenges. As a leading supplier of cable and connection technologies, LAPP recognized this challenge in good time by developing the Mobility Dock, a portable charging system, where Ultramid^® (PA), an engineering plastic from BASF, plays a vital role in the housing material of the charging system.

Ultrasim® supports designing for sustainability. The CAE tool allows customers to simulate how recycled plastics will perform in applications long before manufacturing begins.

BASF at NPE 2024: A key pitstop along the plastics journey

BASF, a global leader in sustainable chemistry, is set to take the industry on a plastics journey at the largest plastics show in the Americas - the National Plastics Expo (NPE2024), taking place May 6-10 in Orlando, Florida. Michael Heinz, Chairman and CEO of BASF Corporation, will deliver the keynote address on Wednesday, May 8, titled “Our Plastics Journey: The Road to a Sustainable Future,” in which he will address the industry’s challenges, emphasize the importance of collaboration along the value chain and offer insights into the future.

CHINAPLAS 2024: Innovative solid-state battery pack a model of lightweight, safe, & sustainable solutions for the eMobility industry

At CHINAPLAS 2024, BASF, Yangtze River Delta Physics Research Center (IOPLY) and Welion New Energy Technology (Welion) will present a new solid-state battery pack that showcases various solutions for eMobility, including lightweighting, thermal management, safety and sustainability. The concept solid-state battery pack features more than 20 advanced and high-performance material solutions, including Ultramid®, Elastoflex®, Elastan®, Ultradur®, Elastollan®, Elastocoat®, Cellasto®, and HED™ Cathode Active Material.

CHINAPLAS 2024: BASF China and Autoliv China cooperate on ‘Design-for-Recycling’ polyurethanes (PU) foam technology

At CHINAPLAS 2024, BASF introduces an innovative ‘Design-for-Recycling’ polyurethanes (PU) foam technology enabling simplified and scalable recycling of PU foam. The recycled material in turn, can be reintroduced into the ‘Design-for-Recycling’ foam formulation. Together with Autoliv China, a leading global automotive supplier for steering wheels, BASF showcases steering wheels made with the ‘Design-for-Recycling’ foam solution containing the recycled content at CHINAPLAS 2024.
