Infinergy® Revolution: Efficient processing of high-performance soles

Infinergy® transformed the footwear industry ten years ago. Now Infinergy® Revolution provides access to a variety of molding processes while keeping the Infinergy® identity of making shoes very comfortable to wear and delivering excellent running properties. Due to new processing methods the material can be fused into soles in a much more energy-efficient and material-friendly manner. With endless design possibilities many surface textures are available. Its durability and recyclability allow Infinergy® Revolution to strive for a more sustainable future of the footwear industry.

Properties

Infinergy® stands out with its exceptional properties derived from its base material, Elastollan® (TPU). With remarkable elongation at break, high tensile strength, and strong abrasion resistance, Infinergy® offers excellent chemical resistance and high elasticity in all conditions. Whether in winter temperatures plunging to -20°C (-4°F) or summer heat exceeding +40°C (+104°F), Infinergy® maintains its functional properties, delivering consistent performance regardless of the season.
One of the most striking features of Infinergy® is its outstanding long-term durability that significantly surpasses that of conventional midsole materials. Infinergy® provides high resilience and cushioning, making it the prefect choice for both athletes and consumers seeking long-lasting performance and comfort.

Processing

Infinergy® 240 is processed using standard commercial steam chest molding machines, designed to operate at a minimum steam chamber pressure of 5 bar. Typically, steam pressures range from 0.6 to 2.2 bar, depending on the specific grade of Infinergy® as well as the part geometry and density. With processing methods like crack filling or pressure filling, part densities of 180 kg/m³ to approximately 220 kg/m³ can be achieved, depending on the degree of packing.
Infinergy® 241 has been specifically developed as a functionalized, storable thermoplastic particle foam that can be molded under heat and pressure without the need of steam. Molding temperatures typically range from 100°C to 150°C, providing flexibility and efficiency in the production process.
Both Infinergy® 240 and 241 can also be processed using alternative molding technologies, such as radiofrenquency molding. Moreover, due to the excellent adhesion of polyurethane binders to Infinergy®, techniques like gluing and foam sealing of the beads enable large-scale processing of Infinergy® with ease.
Converters can efficiently process panels made from Infinergy® using conventional splitting machines, punches, and water jet cutting machines, ensuring versatility and adaptability in manufacturing.

Environment and Recycling

Infinergy® is compliant with the RoHS directive and does not have to be labelled under dangerous goods regulations. Information on other regulations, e.g. GADSL, will be provided upon request.
Infinergy® provides exceptional durability, extending the shoe's usable life without sacrificing cushioning or performance properties. Derived from TPU, it is fully recyclable, making it an environmentally responsible choice. Additionally, the use of renewable raw materials helps to further reduce CO2 emissions. With heat compression molding, Infinergy® 241 is a significant step toward carbon neutrality.
