IrgaCycle™ High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) sheets
IrgaCycle™ enhances the quality of post-consumer and post-industrial polyolefin material for re-use in various applications. A leading recycling company in Malaysia has recently applied IrgaCycle™ to improve 100% recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheets used as protectors for pineapples. In partnership with REEF Technology, IrgaCycle™ additive solutions have been developed for recycled polymer formulations for applications used in the automotive, packaging and consumer industries as well.

ecovio® Certified Compostable Biopolymer
Certified compostable biopolymer ecovio® enables organics recycling of food packaging waste. It can be used as inside coating of paper-based food trays for ready-to-eat meals and to-go coffee cups, thus extending the end-of-life options for paper-based packaging by being organically recyclable: The trays and cups can be commercially composted with the organic waste collected in organic waste bins.

Re-Crafting Plastics - Bembel 2.0
- Creation Center Ludwigshafen x jüngerkühn
- jüngerkühn combines robotics with craftsmanship and extensive research into the primary materials.
- A mix of several thermoplastic engineering plastics (Ultradur® / Ultramid® A / Ultramid® B), found in the waste bins of BASF processing technologies center, were processed by jüngerkühn. For the first time, the primary material is presented in its original shape, i.e., granules, in the final product!
- For their project, jüngerkühn was inspired by traditional blue and white colored crockery from the Westerwald region known as Kannenbäckerland. jüngerkühn incorporated the crockery’s distinctive coloring as well as its uneven texture into their design.
- jüngerkühn‘s contribution to Creation Center Ludwigshafen: a modern 3D printed reinterpretation of traditional crockery.

Re-Crafting Plastics - Urushi-Cutlery
- Creation Center Yokohama x Seki Design Lab.
- For their project, Seki Design Lab. upcycled various waste materials from production and processing facilities. Those test specimens are used to test the mechanical properties of a material.
- The sturdy plastic samples were perfectly fit for converting them into pieces of cutlery. The design of the cutlery was derived from the original shape of the samples.
- For the finish, Seki Design Lab. cooperated with Tsuchinao Shikki. The varnish is not only of aesthetic value investing the cutlery with a timeless and elegant look. It also gives the pieces a pleasantly smooth texture.
- For the project of Creation Center Yokohama, Seki Design Lab. came up with a multi-purpose 12-piece set which is useful in any situation and for any task. In addition to fork, knife, spoon, and chop sticks, it includes useful items such as a smart phone fixture or a bottle opener.

Re-Crafting Plastics - The Joyride
- Creation Center Mumbai featuring AKFD Studio
- Ayush Kasliwal used PU foams that were produced for testing in BASF labs combining them with a simple metal framework.
- Ayush called his project “The Joyride” alluding to the traditional rocking horses found in many Indian households. A piece of leather served as a saddle. It was adorned by a “Jooti” ornament manufactured by local handicraft businesses using traditional embroidery known as Aari.
- The project for Creation Center Mumbai was tested at various stages achieving a perfect balance of both stability and mobility.

Re-Crafting Plastics - USELESSFUL
- Creation Center Shanghai x Chen Min Office
- Freeflex™ TPU fibers are widely used in various industries, with excellent recyclability. The post-industrial recycled TPU fibers of this project come from the footwear manufacturing industry.
- With inspiration from traditional Chinese bodiless lacquerware technique, the fibers were salvaged and handcrafted into a bodiless artwork molded from the most common porcelain vases in China. Three shapes are united into an exquisite multi-layered sculpture that playfully puzzles the eye.
- Besides the main body, the designer created a plinth shaped to present the concept of ‘reflection’. The varying hollow structure made of 2947 sticks partially mimics the reflection of the artwork’s main body. The plinth is produced with modern 3D printing technique and material, subtly contrasting with, and linked to the main body.
- For the project of Creation Center Shanghai, the final artwork is named “USELESSFUL", a new and interesting interpretation of the Taoist concept “The Usefulness of Uselessness”

IrgaCycle® - Tiles made from used fishing nets
It’s better to keep using fishing nets before they end up as trash in landfills or even worse as ghost nets in the ocean. But often, the leftover nets are too low-grade for reuse. Additives like IrgaCycle® help to mechanically recycle them and turn them into something useful. One square meter of tiles are made from 4.5 kilos of nets!
