Concept campervan VisionVenture

What will van life look like in 2025? This is the question that HYMER, the leading manufacturer of premium campervans and RVs, and BASF have been asking themselves. The answer: VisionVenture.
The VisionVenture is a near-production glimpse into the future of van life. Using more than 20 innovative BASF plastics and the development expertise of the BASF Creation Center, a new class of van has been created that blazes a trail in lightweight construction, independence, travel adventures and design.

Seats and bench seats are subject to particular loads in the VisionVenture. They serve for eating, playing, sleeping and the cushions are often used as steps to reach the high shelves. The specialists at BASF therefore selected the tried and tested polyurethane foams Elastoflex® and Elastofoam® for the cushions. These foams are very frequently used for chairs, armrests and backrests in the furniture and vehicles sectors. The slate walls in the wellness area of the VisionVenture are a world first. Up until now, it has not been possible to work with natural stone in the vehicle interior due to weight considerations. This is changing with the advent of VeneoSlate®, which is manufactured using the compact, non-foamed polyurethane Elastocoat®, as the material has a thin and incredibly lightweight layer of slate on its surface. Thanks to its low mounted height of only 1 millimeter, it can be installed in a highly spacesaving manner. The material also combines the silky and natural appearance of the natural stone with the light weight and flexibility of polyurethane. This gives a huge degree of design freedom. With Elastoflex ®, natural materials in the living area of the VisionVenture can be seen and felt in a new way. The polyurethane foam system is actually known as a glass fiber reinforced material for structural components; in the campervan, it accentuates the natural fiber hemp on decorative surfaces such as cupboard doors or kitchen fronts. Robust seat cushions for the VisionVenture. Seats and benches are a special feature of motorhomes. exposed to stress. The polyurethane foam used for the upholstery Elastoflex® W has proven itself for such applications and contributes to weight reduction in the vehicle due to its low density.

One of the several world-first innovation in the VisionVentureis is the self-inflating tent roof, which creates additional space in the living area in under 60 seconds. The roof is coated in Elastollan®, creating a waterproof and windproof, lightweight and stable exterior wall, which generates the ideal atmosphere for a comfortable night’s sleep. Due to its high elasticity, excellent mechanical strength and particularly high tear resistance, Elastollan® has been selected for this application. Due to the UV resistance of the material, the VisionVenture does not heat up as much as ordinary motorhomes. In addition, Elastollan® has good resistance to ozone, which helps to maintain full elasticity. From inspiration to solution: The BASF Creation Center in action

Using the development expertise of the BASF Creation Center, a new class of van has been created that blazes a trail in lightweight construction, independence, travel experience and design. In the joint workshop of BASF and HYMER, visions were developed in a creative atmosphere, materials physically and digitally discovered and first prototypes created thanks to trend consulting, material expertise and unique simulation technology.

From inspiration to solution, everything in one place. In record time, the futuristic motorhome was created that sets new standards for future caravanning.

This result shows: The Creation Center makes completely new ways of cooperation possible and creates innovations such as the VisionVenture.
