ENERTITE® - the cost-effective sprayfoam insulation

ENERTITE® is a low-density open-cell spray applied polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation. Applied as a liquid, this water-blown foam quickly expands to many times its original size completely filling wall cavities. ENERTITE® easily flows in and around difficult-to-reach areas such as pipes and wiring, creating a seamless seal.

ENERTITE® is applied directly to the surface to be insulated by means of a spraying process, expands very strongly in just a few seconds and then hardens quickly. Unlike BASF's closed-cell Elastospray® systems, ENERTITE® is an open-cell polyurethane foam. Although ENERTITE® also forms an airtight insulating layer with no joints or gaps and no thermal bridges, its open cell structure makes it permeable to water vapor. For this reason, an additional vapour barrier must be installed depending on the application and building regulations. In addition, the insulating properties of ENERTITE® are slightly worse than those of Elastospray®. However, this can be easily compensated for by applying a thicker foam layer. ENERTITE® is a cost-effective alternative to closed-cell spray foam wherever interior insulation is not subject to particular stress and where an extra layer of insulation is not a problem. And ENERTITE® also offers two other advantages: it not only improves energy efficiency but also provides effective sound insulation. In addition, it is particularly environmentally friendly due to the use of water as a blowing agent.
