Improving the ecological profile without compromising on quality

How can you minimize the ecological footprint and at the same time fulfill the requirements of legislation such as the Plastic Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR)? The answer lies in the joint efforts of committed partners: BASF and Knauf.

Knauf Industries produces CELOOPS® fish boxes using expandable polystyrene (EPS) granules Styropor® Ccycled® from BASF. In the manufacturing process of Styropor® Ccycled®, fossil feedstocks are replaced by pyrolysis oil at the very beginning of the BASF value chain. This pyrolysis oil is obtained from post-consumer plastic waste through chemical recycling and attributed to the EPS via the mass balance approach. Furthermore, CELOOPS® fish boxes are 100% recyclable. By this, the two companies contribute strongly to the circularity of plastics.
