Takazuri and BASF have joined forces to develop durable smart building solutions for Eastern Africa. These solutions focus on climate resilience and sustainability, incorporating Takazuri's Climatile™ technology, which uses locally sourced and converted post-consumer materials.

Climatile™ offers superior insulation and solar reflection properties compared to standard metal roofs. It keeps roofs and walls cooler, enhances indoor temperatures, and provides a safe rainwater-harvesting surface without rusting.

To protect the system against the region's unique weather conditions, BASF has tailored specific additive packages that enable Climatile™ to withstand long-term outdoor exposure.

This partnership aims to deliver long-lasting, eco-friendly solutions that foster economic growth in Africa and positively impact the construction industry and local communities.

BASF introduces a new circular concept to enable the recycling of PU insulation material in the Appliance industry. To return polyurethane to the same material cycle, BASF is developing an efficient chemical recycling process jointly with its partners KraussMaffei and Rampf. In a stable, continuous industrial depolymerisation process, recycled polyols are produced, which can be used to manufacture new PU rigid foams as insulation material in refrigerators. By using post-consumer waste from end-of-life refrigerators as feedstock, the consumption of fossil resources can be significantly reduced. Liebherr, the leading innovative refrigeration producer and BASF have partnered in a pilot to produce the first fridge containing recycled PU-foam.

You want to develop larger, more robust and durable parts for water electrolyzers? Stargate Hydrogen’s innovative alkaline electrolyzer stacks are essential in accelerating the decarbonization of many industries. The Stellar Series offers stacks for engineering companies looking to become hydrogen stack integrators.

A key component is BASF’s high-performance thermoplastic Ultrason® S (PSU) used for the frames. The cooperation between Stargate and BASF in developing the frames has been instrumental in achieving outstanding results: The pressurised stacks are designed for long operational lifespans, ensuring reliable hydrogen production, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs. This durability enhances the economic feasibility of green hydrogen, making it a cost-effective solution.

Comfort meets sustainability: metlable PU for high-class furniture

October 14, 11am

Meet our experts:

BASF presents a new generation of flexible PU foams suitable for thermoplastic recycling at the end of their life cycle. These new meltable PU foams combine the advantages of recyclability with the comfort properties of conventional PU foams. The foams can be 100% recycled and used as a raw material for new foams.

With the newly developed foam, BASF offers a polyurethane that makes it possible to use PU waste as a raw material for new foams. After its first service life, the foam can be returned to the material cycle and used for new products in various application areas such as the automotive, footwear and furniture industries.

Swiss design furniture manufacturer Vitra has been waiting for exactly this innovation and is now using the meltable PU foam in their product lines for office furniture, armchairs and sofas.
