Great Wall Motors unveils revamped WEY models in collaboration with BASF and fashion designers
Designs based on BASF’s innovative materials enabled customized solutions and intelligent technology of future mobility
Great Wall Motors (GWM) has unveiled revamped models of its premium brand WEY, enabled by its collaboration with BASF and designers. Based on BASF’s innovative material solutions, designers Enchi Shen and King Liu explored various design possibilities to materialize the customized solutions and intelligent technology of future mobility envisioned by Great Wall.
“BASF’s advanced, high-performance material solutions provided us with unlimited design possibilities,” said Enchi Shen, a renowned fashion designer.
Haptex synthetic leather for interior trim
Durability in peel strength, abrasion, hydrolysis, and flexing resistance of synthetic leather made with Haptex enables designers to combine high-performance requirements with desired appearance and touch. It is well suited for interior trim parts, such as instrumental panels, doors, armrests andmid consoles, and matches all seat or steering wheel cover requirements. Being a polyurethane (PU) solution made without organic solvents, Haptex is also a preferred solution for low odor and low emission synthetic leather and components.
Infinergy for grille light surface and interior trim
With high elongation at break, high tensile strength, and strong abrasion resistance, Infinergy remains highly elastic and soft over a wide temperature range. Infinergy adds next-level comfort and flexibility for interior trim, such as instrument panels and door panels. Infinergy is also used for grille surface with an excellent illumination effect, as it allows light to pass through and combines a very high light transmission with low light scattering.
Further, fashion designers' unique crossover design for Great Wall’s WEY brand provided a fresh new look and attention to consumer aesthetics.
“Appealing to the tastes of premium model buyers who prize style and functionality in equal measure, the color and textures of Haptex and Infinergy gave us the design freedom to create a more futuristic and intelligent feel,” added Shen.
