Electronics & Electric
Increased demand for electrical components that are flame retardant. The need for components to be smaller but still deliver the same, if not better performance. These are just a couple of the trends that are driving both you and us. Our extensive portfolio of high performance polymers and additives as well as our technical expertise can help you find the solutions you need.
Most parts of the 3RV2 circuit breaker housing and some internal parts are crafted from biomass-balanced Ultramid® and Ultradur® from BASF. For the manufacturing of this material, fossil feedstock at the beginning of the value chain is replaced by bio-methane derived from renewable sources such as agricultural waste, and plant residues. Looking at the ‘mass balance approach’, fossil raw materials are substituted with certified bio-based raw materials. Bio-naphtha and bio-methane are integrated at the outset of the value chain. This approach produces benefits for all stakeholders throughout the supply and production chain, extending to the end customer. This is achieved without any loss of quality or performance compared to the conventional plastics product. On top: BASF itself is a Siemens customer, incorporating the SIRIUS 3RV2 circuit breaker into its production facilities.
