Shiny materials for interior surfaces

The haptics and visual appearance of components in the car interior are becoming even more important. BASF is presenting innovative materials for premium and appealing surfaces to give the interior a distinctive look. With Ultramid® B3E2G6 SI BK23353 and Ultramid® B3E2G10 SI BK23353 a new generation of surface-improved structural materials is now available.

Collaboration for lightweighting success on 2021 Toyota Sienna

Congratulations to BASF and Toyota Motor North America Research & Development. The partnership achieved lightweighting success with the new 2021 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle won the prestigious Altair Enlighten Award for achievements in vehicle weight savings for reduced mass of the third row seat.

This poses new challenges to materials and at the same time offers opportunities for design and functionality. In addition to electromobility, automated driving will change the vehicle of  tomorrow. In a self-driving automobile, the interior will probably become an extended living room and increase the number of sensors significantly.
