Collaboration for lightweighting success on 2021 Toyota Sienna
Congratulations to BASF and Toyota Motor North America Research & Development. The partnership achieved lightweighting success with the new 2021 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle won the prestigious Altair Enlighten Award for achievements in vehicle weight savings for reduced mass of the third row seat.
Customer project: Launch of PU based seating for buses
BASF’s has launched the first integrated seating system with Yutong that contributes to sustainability in commercial vehicles. The improved flame-retardant properties of the Polyurethane Elastoflex® meet fire safety standards of coaches and intercity all-seater buses.
Upcoming trends for the car interior
Towards the trends of automated driving, the car interior might become an extended living room. Once there is no longer a need for a driver, the in-vehicle experience will change. Instead of operating the car, we will have more freedom to relax, do work or be entertained. Listen to our expert Ragnar Stoll in his presentation about our solutions.
It's all about design
What is the job of a designer at a chemical company? And how is BASF contributing to design features in the car interior? We talked with Alex Horisberger, designer at BASF's Creation Center.

Ideal solutions for future mobility

Megatrends in the automotive industry are facing new challenges for the materials used, yet at the same time opening up new opportunities. Electromobility and autonomous driving are set to revolutionize cars and put established vehicle concepts to the test. At the K 2019 press conference, Thomas Bayerl, Segment Manager E/E & e-Mobility, talks about these trends and the impact on interior concepts.

Keep on shining with Ultramid® Vision
Due to its excellent properties, Ultramid® Vision has been used in a car interior for the first time.
Reimagining autonomous interior design
Due to autonomous driving concepts the car interior will change in the future. Functionality of materials will play an even bigger role.
Honeycomb technology for lightweight interior applications
With reduced weight and a variety of design possibilities: The honeycomb technology is making its way in the auto industry.

Press conference at the VDI-congress “Plastics in automotive engineering”

The megatrends in the automotive industry are already described by the catchword "CASE". Connectivity, autonomous driving, shared services and last but not least electromobility will fundamentally change the automobile as we know it today. This poses new challenges to materials and at the same time offers opportunities for design and functionality. In addition to electromobility, automated driving will change the vehicle of  tomorrow. In a self-driving automobile, the interior will probably become an extended living room and increase the number of sensors significantly.
